Government Chengalpattu Medical College, originally known as Chengalpattu Medical College, was established in 1965. The college transitioned from a District Headquarters Hospital to an esteemed medical training institution under the Tamil Nadu Government. With support from Vedachalam Mudaliar, the former Municipality Chairperson, it has developed significantly over the years. GCMC is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
