Jamia Millia Islamia is an Indian central university in New Delhi. It was founded under the British Raj in 1920 in Aligarh, United Provinces (modern-day Uttar Pradesh, India), and transferred to its current location in Okhla in 1935. In 1962, the University Grants Commission granted it deemed status. The only Central university with a full-fledged Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics is Jamia Millia Islamia.

It was designated as a core university on December 26, 1988. The campus is spread out across a broad area in Delhi’s Okhla neighbourhood, near the Red Fort. Many of the city’s structures are undergoing renovations. Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Sports Complex, the university’s picturesque cricket pitch, has held several significant tournaments and Indian women’s cricket matches. In 2013, this venue hosted the University Cricket Championship. Courses in architecture pedagogy, health architecture, building services, urban regeneration, and ekistics are available at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate levels.

Undergraduate and postgraduate information and technology courses are available at the Jamia. Jamia Millia Islamia joined the green movement by installing 2,250-kilowatt solar panels on campus. Aside from a five-year integrated BA LLB (Honours) degree, the faculty provides a two-year post-graduate (LLM) programme in three specialised streams (personal law, corporate law, and criminal law), as well as a PhD programme. For working professionals, it also offers a two-year Executive LL.M programme. The faculty provides both regular and continuing education courses.
