The School of Open Learning [a component of the Campus of Open Learning], originally known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education, was founded in 1962 by the University of Delhi as a pioneer institution in India’s field of distance education. During the Academic Session 2006-2007, the School enrolled over two lakh pupils. Our students have consistently placed first in a variety of fields.

The admissions procedure for various programmes at the School is controlled by the University of Delhi’s regulations. The University of Delhi also administers the test. The University of Delhi awards degrees to students at the School in the same way that it does to students at its other constituent colleges. From the academic session 1990-91, the School developed the South Study Center at Moti Bagh to meet the demands of an increasing number of students.

The school is in the midst of building a Study Center in the Eastern and Western parts of Delhi’s National Capital Region in order to reach out to a wider number of students. Undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Arts/Humanities and Commerce are available at the school. The primary method of education is through well-prepared hardcopy course materials that are mailed to all registered students. This is reinforced by the Personal Contact Program, which is offered for the benefit of students at the School’s numerous study centres.
