The University of Delhi, often known as Delhi University (DU), is an Indian collegiate public central university in New Delhi. It was established in 1922 by an Act of the Central Legislative Assembly. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission as an Academy of Distinction. The major tasks of a collegiate university are shared between the institution’s academic departments and constituent colleges. The University of Delhi, which began with three colleges, two faculties, and 750 students, has grown to become India’s largest and one of the world’s largest higher education institutions.

The university’s North and South campuses are home to 16 faculties and 86 departments. There are 77 constituent colleges and five additional institutes that make up the university. There are 240 undergraduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) programmes available at the institution (PG). With a few exceptions, such as MBBS and BTech, the 3-year undergraduate programme structure offers 75 courses. The three divisions of the university college, arts, economics, and science, are where most courses are grouped.

There are 70 post-graduate degrees available at the university. MPhil programmes are available at DU in around 28 topics. It also provides 90+ Certificate courses and 28 Diplomas in addition to these. In various languages, there are 15 Advanced Diplomas available. The university provides PhD programmes, which can be given by any of the institution’s faculties in accordance with Ordinance VI-B. The university embarked on a new sports plan that included the construction of a multi-purpose arena with both outdoor and indoor amenities. In late 2011, the university made these facilities available to the students.
